My first QSO-s after a longer break. I almost forgot how busy the bands get during CQ WW contests. Overall mixed feelings and strange conditions for me. With my IC-7300 and 1/4λ vertical, it felt like working QRPp lots of times. Hourly rates so low reminded me of my previous QRP operation from EA6 with my old Elecraft K1 and a random wire.
Operated mostly S&P, as it was impossible for me to get any callers this time. Could not get even a "?" back from a few usual & easy multipliers like CN, A4, HZ etc.
Highlights on the other hand, worked KL7RA on Saturday afternoon, 3x VK & 2x ZL. TF1AM answered my CQ on Sunday for a double multiplier.
Trying new stuff
Thanks to N1MM Logger+ sending Radio Information through the network1, I captured sent messages throughout the contest for fun and possible insights in the future.
Turns out I sent:
- CQ: 2021 times (for 168 QSO)
- DL7NX (S&P call): 4112 times (for 606 QSO)
Although I never captured this data before, this quantifies how hard it was for me to reach (or not be able to reach) lots of stations heard this time.
Also was fun watching the online scoreboard, although most of the rates in my power category were way out of my reach. Thanks for all the contacts and see you in the next one!
